PROGRAM OUTLINE
Board / Wall play in hockey refers to the physical and strategic battles that take place along the rink’s boards. These situations occur when players battle for body and puck possession in tight spaces, often under pressure from opponents.
Effective board play requires strength, balance, and quick decision-making, as players must shield the puck, use their body to create space, or execute precise passes to teammates. It also involves defensive tactics, such as pinning opponents to the boards or cutting off passing lanes. Mastery of board play is crucial for controlling the flow of the game, particularly in the corners, halfway, and along the blue lines, where many pivotal moments begin.
